Due to the weak construction market, Rockwood Holdings Co., Ltd. will postpone the opening of its new iron oxide pigment factory in Augusta, Georgia, USA, to 2014 or 2015. The performance of the company’s additive business unit mainly relied on the construction market, and sales in the second quarter decreased by 7.1% compared to the same period last year.

It is understood that Lockwood announced at the end of 2011 that it invested $115 million to build a new iron oxide pigment factory, which was also the first new facility in the United States in the past 35 years. The Rockwood Pigments business unit is a global supplier serving a wide range of applications including construction, coatings, plastics and specialty applications.
