Chicago firefighters responded to a fire at 525 W. Armitage yesterday, just a short distance from Engine 22's station. Upon arrival, they discovered intense flames on the second and third floors of a three-flat building that was in the middle of renovation. The incident was escalated to a 2-11 alarm, bringing in additional units to manage the growing situation. Tragically, the building suffered a catastrophic collapse during the firefighting efforts.
