Cummins wins the "America's Fighting Company" Award
In a recent announcement, *Diesel Progress*, a leading publication in the global diesel industry, named Cummins as the 2007 "Newsmaker of the Year." This marks the second time in five years that the company has received this prestigious recognition. The award highlights Cummins' significant contributions and influence within the diesel engine sector.
The "Emergency Diesel" magazine also honored Cummins with its annual Enterprise Award, which recognizes the most impactful companies, individuals, products, technologies, and events shaping the diesel industry. Cummins stood out for its innovative advancements and leadership in addressing environmental challenges.
According to a special year-end edition of *Diesel Progress* published in December 2007, Cummins made three major technological breakthroughs in 2007 that set it apart from competitors. First, the company launched the new 6.7-liter "top" pickup truck turbocharged diesel engine, the first to meet the world's strictest emissions standards—EPA 2010 NOx and particulate regulations, equivalent to more than Euro VI. This engine is considered one of the cleanest heavy-duty pickup engines globally.
Second, Cummins introduced a new generation of medium- and heavy-duty highway engines designed to comply with the U.S. EPA 2010 emissions standards, along with a clear technical roadmap for achieving these goals. Third, the company announced a comprehensive strategy for meeting the next phase of emission standards for non-highway mobile equipment in both Europe and the U.S., set to take effect in 2011. This strategy includes the use of Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF) combined with Cooled Exhaust Gas Recirculation (CEGR) technology to significantly reduce harmful emissions.
