Truck demand in emerging markets has increased dramatically. Against the background of the gradual shrinkage of the Japanese domestic market, well-known Japanese truck companies such as Isuzu have stepped up cooperation with emerging Asian countries such as China through joint R&D and production expansion.
Due to the increase in population and rapid economic development, emerging market countries account for 80% of the international large and medium truck market. China's truck sales in 2010 were close to 1.3 million, which is equivalent to 2.5 times that of 2006. On the other hand, Japan’s domestic truck market is shrinking, with only 50,000 units sold in 2010, less than half of the sales in 2006. 
To this end, major truck companies in Japan have stepped up efforts to increase China's production capacity and deepen cooperation. Isuzu plans to standardize parts and components, utilize the Chinese market scale to reduce production costs, and purchase inexpensive Chinese-made components for production in Japan. In the next few years, Isuzu will increase its annual investment by 20-30 billion yen, increase its holding of joint ventures with Qingling Motors Group, invest in new production lines, double the production scale, and reach an annual production of 200,000 vehicles. Isuzu and Qingling will Jointly researched and developed the next-generation GIGA 10-ton heavy-duty truck, ready to put into production and sales in China and Japan in 2015.
Mitsubishi Fuso Truck & Bus Co., Ltd. used the parent company's German Daimler procurement system to increase the overseas procurement rate of parts for CANTER mini trucks from zero to about 50%. At the same time, it plans to develop low-price medium trucks in India. 
Nissan Diesel UD Trucks plans to manufacture truck parts for emerging countries in cooperation with the Swedish company Volvo Group in China within a few years. It is also exploring the joint venture company Dongfeng Nissan Diesel and Volvo's production of vehicles in India and Thailand.
