By using electromagnetic forces to suspend the rotor in mid-air, they offer numerous advantages: no mechanical wear, low energy consumption, high rotational speed capabilities, reduced noise, extended service life, and the elimination of the need for lubricants. When applied to molecular pumps, magnetic bearings solve a critical issue—the oil vapor backflow caused by traditional lubrication methods—which can contaminate vacuum chambers. As a result, magnetic bearing-based vacuum molecular pumps have become the preferred choice for advanced integrated circuit manufacturing equipment, especially in high-vacuum applications. This innovation represents a revolutionary advancement in the bearing industry, following the transition from oil and gas lubrication. Hong Shenping, the general manager of Zhejiang Feixuan Technology Co., Ltd., who leads the research and development team, has pioneered the creation of magnetic bearings tailored for integrated circuit equipment. For the first time in China, the company implemented a 5-degree-of-freedom controlled magnetic suspension bearing in a molecular pump, utilizing cross-feedback control technology to address the gyroscopic effect of flexible rotors at high speeds, thereby enhancing rotor stability.
