Tim Olk captured a series of powerful images showing the ongoing recovery efforts at Gillson Park in Wilmette last night. The photos document the intense search and rescue operation that took place in Lake Michigan as emergency crews worked to locate a missing swimmer.
In one image, a Chicago helicopter flies overhead, scanning the water in an attempt to spot the lost individual. Tim’s photo highlights the coordinated effort between air and ground teams. Another shot shows Evanston Fire Department divers battling rough waves as they search for the swimmer, emphasizing the challenging conditions faced by first responders.
Divers are seen scanning the area from the breakwater, while others work directly in the water, searching tirelessly for any sign of the missing person. A dive master on the beach gives instructions to the team, underscoring the organized nature of the operation. One diver is seen riding a sled pulled by a wave runner, ready to enter the water if needed.
