Therefore, the key to the separation of copper and nickel is the separation of nickel sulfide and copper sulfide. After the high-nickel nickel is ground, the particles of the copper-nickel sulfide are dissociated from each other, and in a strong alkaline solution (pH 12 to 12.5), the butyl xanthate is added for flotation. At this time, the nickel sulfide is suppressed, and the copper sulfide floats up to achieve the purpose of separation. The successful application of this new process has enabled China's copper-nickel separation technology to reach the international advanced level.
