July: Sales of Great Wall Motor increased 87.7% only 146 cars lower than Chery. In July this year, the top five companies selling their own brands were Chery, Great Wall, Geely, BYD, and FAW Group. Compared with the same period of last year, the major change in rankings was the replacement of BYD by the Great Wall, ranking from fourth to second; BYD's ranking dropped by two to fourth.

Although Chery Automobile still topped the sales volume of 38,900 units in July this year, its sales gap with other self-owned brand companies has narrowed significantly: its sales volume is only slightly higher than that of No. 2 Great Wall Motor Co., Ltd., which was 146 units higher than that of the same period last year. The number one sales company (BYD) was 13,700. From the perspective of its main models, apart from the sales growth of QQ and Tiggo, the sales of other major models have all declined. Great Wall Motors performed very well in July this year, and its sales volume increased 87.7% year-on-year to 38,700 units, an increase far greater than the passenger vehicle market average (10%). From the model level, its high sales growth was mainly attributable to the sales contribution of the new vehicles Haval H6, Haval M4, Great Wall Tengyi C50, Great Wall C30, and C20R. Among them, Haval H6 has continued to sell well since it was listed. In July of this year, the sales volume reached 14,500, becoming the main force contributing to sales growth. The Haval M4 has found that its demand is huge according to relevant securities agency investigations. Currently, it is still in a state of oversupplied supply, and there will continue to be similar H6 sustained climbing growth.

Geely’s sales performance is also relatively good. In July of this year, sales volume increased by 37% year-on-year to 33,700 units. Its rapid sales growth was mainly attributable to the sales contribution of the new SC3, GC7, and GX7 vehicles and the rapid growth of the Emgrand EC7.

The sales of BYD and FAW Group both declined. BYD sales fell 9.0% to 25,000 vehicles, and FAW Group fell 6.7% to 17,500 vehicles.

The sixth to tenth independent brands ranked in turn were Brilliance Automotive, Changan Group, Dongfeng Group, Lifan Automobile and Jianghuai Automobile. Among them, with the exception of JAC's sales, which fell by 27.5%, the sales of other four companies grew rapidly by double digits.

January-July: The sales of Dongfeng Group and Great Wall Motor increased rapidly from January to July. The top ten brands of independent brands were Chery Automobile, Geely Automobile, Great Wall Motors, BYD, FAW Group, Chang'an Group, Dongfeng Group, Jianghuai Automobile and SAIC Group. In terms of sales growth, Dongfeng Group saw the fastest growth in sales. From January to July this year, sales increased 44.8% year-on-year to 127,800. Among its main models, sales of Lingzhi and Fengshen H30 soared by 184.7% and 166.5% year-on-year to 38,600 vehicles and 16,800 vehicles, respectively, which was the main driving force for the rapid growth of sales.

Great Wall Motor has also enjoyed rapid growth, with sales from January to July up 24.6% year-on-year. Among its models, the sales of Haval H6 and Great Wall C30 averaged over 10,000 vehicles per month.

Sales of SAIC, Geely and Brilliance also increased from January to July this year.

Sales of the other top ten companies all declined, among which, JAC and FAW Group saw the highest sales declines. JAC's January-July sales fell 27.5% year-on-year to 102,200 units. Its main models, Yuesui RS, Ruifeng, Tongyue and Ruiying, both declined, while Yueyue's sales increased 158.6%, but their sales are still relatively low. Only 0.56 million vehicles were accumulated.

FAW Group's sales fell by 26.1% year-on-year to 183,300 units. The sharp decline in sales was mainly due to the sharp decline in sales of its Pentium series and Weizhi.
