**HANOI, September 28, 2017** – The BIM Steering Committee under the Ministry of Construction (MOC) and Autodesk have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on advancing Vietnam’s goal of implementing nationwide Building Information Modeling (BIM) guidelines by 2021. This partnership aims to support the country's construction industry in adopting digital transformation tools that enhance efficiency, sustainability, and project management. The Institute of Construction Economics (ICE), as the secretariat of the BIM Steering Committee, has partnered with Autodesk to promote BIM awareness and application across construction and facility management sectors. This initiative aligns with Prime Ministerial Decision No. 2500/QĐ-TTg dated December 22, 2016, and the action plan set by the Ministry of Construction. Autodesk will bring global best practices in BIM implementation, drawing from its experience working with governments worldwide. Daniel Green, Autodesk’s APAC Director of Government Affairs, will join the expert panel to provide strategic guidance to the BIM Steering Committee. Led by Deputy Minister Le Quang Hung, the committee includes 14 representatives from key ministries such as Transport, Trade and Industry, Agriculture and Rural Development, and Planning and Investment. Their collective effort is crucial in shaping a unified approach to BIM adoption. “Vietnam’s construction sector stands to benefit greatly from BIM,” said Daniel Green. “With the right framework, technology, and training, we can help transform how buildings are designed, built, and managed. We are committed to supporting Vietnam in this important journey.” BIM offers Vietnamese architects, engineers, and construction professionals powerful tools to create intelligent 3D models for better design, construction, and building operations. With Autodesk’s support, the committee will oversee three major phases outlined by the government: **2017–2019: Awareness and Preparation** This phase focuses on raising BIM awareness, conducting surveys on current construction investments and building management, and developing temporary BIM guidelines for pilot projects. It also involves creating training materials and improving BIM capabilities among stakeholders. **2018–2020: Pilot Implementation** During this period, the temporary BIM guidelines will be applied to at least 20 Class I and above construction projects, as well as 10 facility management projects. The committee will offer consultation to overcome challenges and monitor the effectiveness of these implementations. **2021 Onwards: Nationwide Rollout** Based on evaluation results, the Ministry of Construction will issue comprehensive BIM guidelines for widespread use in construction and facility management.
