I. Silent diesel generators should be idle or idle for a few minutes before shutting down
Allow the engine to run idle or no-load for 3 to 5 minutes after the unit is loaded and before shutdown. So that the pistons, cylinder heads, bushings, bearings and turbochargers have enough time for cooling. This is very important. This is especially important for turbocharged engines. Bearings and oil seals in turbochargers are all affected by high exhaust temperatures. While the engine is running, this heat is carried away by the circulating oil. However, if the engine suddenly stops, the booster temperature may increase by as much as 100°F [56°C]. The result of overheating will cause the bearing to seize or the oil seal to fail.
Second, do not make small diesel generators idle too long or idle operation
Prolonged idling or no-load operation is detrimental to the genset because the combustion chamber temperature is too low to allow complete combustion of the fuel. This will cause carbon deposits, which will clog the nozzle orifices and the piston rings and may trap the valve. If the temperature of the engine coolant becomes too low, some of the unburned diesel will flush the lubricating oil on the cylinder wall and dilute the oil in the crankcase, causing all the moving parts in the engine to suffer from poor lubrication.
Third, if the small diesel generator is not used, it should stop
Turn the key switch to the "off" position or press the stop button to turn off the engine. For engines equipped with an electric shut-off valve, the engine can be completely shut off by turning off the key switch or by turning the manual shut-off valve. The key switch controls the electric shut-off valve. As long as the control knob on the shut-off valve is not locked in the open position, turning off the key switch can always stop the engine. The shut-off valve cannot be opened again with the key switch before the engine is completely stopped. Note: Never place the key switch or control knob in the open position or in the operating position when the engine is stopped. The high tank will allow diesel to flow into the cylinder, which will cause hydraulic locking.
Fourth, any parts faulty should immediately stop the small diesel generator
In fact, all faults always give the operator some warning before parts fail and the engine is damaged. Because the clever operator noticed the warning signal (abrupt drop of oil pressure, abnormal sound, etc.) and stopped the engine immediately, many engines were saved.
