Autodesk is enhancing its support for construction companies worldwide by introducing new workflows that help design and construction firms meet the ISO 19650 standard. These updates now allow customers to store their project data primarily in Europe, addressing a key regional demand. SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., June 2, 2021 – Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADSK) has launched a new set of workflows within Autodesk Construction Cloud, helping users comply with ISO 19650, a global standard for managing construction information. The updated tools offer a structured approach to publishing, sharing, and storing project data. Customers using Autodesk Build, BIM Collaborate, BIM Collaborate Pro, Takeoff, and Docs can now choose to store their data in Europe, meeting local needs and regulatory expectations. Standardization plays a vital role in improving efficiency and collaboration across the construction industry. ISO 19650 ensures that teams follow consistent naming conventions and data management practices, making it easier to streamline processes and maintain data integrity. This uniformity leads to safer, more secure, and more predictable project outcomes. Gert-Jan Ditsel, BIM Manager at Dura Vermeer, emphasized the importance of standardized document control: “Without clear guidelines, teams waste time searching for the latest information. ISO 19650 compliance isn’t just a requirement—it’s a benefit for all stakeholders involved.” The new workflows in Autodesk Construction Cloud include features like enforcing naming standards, validating file uploads, and automatically isolating non-compliant files into a Holding Area. These tools help teams stay organized and compliant throughout the project lifecycle. In addition, Autodesk is expanding its support by offering Autodesk Docs as a standalone subscription, giving teams more flexibility to manage project data effectively. This move reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to empowering construction professionals globally. Ilai Rotbaein, Senior Director of Research and Development at Autodesk Construction Solutions, said, “ISO 19650 provides a common language for our industry. Meeting regional data storage requirements gives companies a competitive edge in the global market.” With these updates, Autodesk continues to innovate, ensuring that construction teams have the tools they need to succeed in an increasingly complex and data-driven environment.
