SAN RAFAEL, Calif., Sept. 22, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADSK) has introduced a new model coordination workflow that connects two of its most popular tools, Navisworks and BIM 360 Model Coordination. This integration is designed to streamline the construction process by allowing teams to manage clash detection, issue tracking, and coordination in one unified environment. The update strengthens the Autodesk Construction Cloud, making it easier for architects, engineers, and contractors to collaborate more efficiently and reduce rework.
This new workflow enables users to automate clash detection directly within BIM 360 Model Coordination and create or assign issues from either Navisworks or BIM 360. It enhances existing workflows for Navisworks users while giving BIM 360 users access to more detailed analysis in Navisworks. By bridging these two platforms, Autodesk is helping teams improve the accuracy of construction documents, save time, and minimize delays caused by design errors.

The new workflow allows more stakeholders to engage in model coordination at any time. Design teams can now perform real-time clash detection, while BIM leaders can focus on critical constructability challenges. For example, if a structural team detects a clash between a stairwell and a wall in BIM 360, they can immediately assign an issue and track it until resolution. The model can also be opened in Navisworks for deeper analysis, where experts can identify potential problems like maintenance difficulties with HVAC systems and coordinate fixes across disciplines.
