By Amy Bunszel, Autodesk Vice President, AutoCAD Products. Earlier today, Autodesk shared the news that we've finally settled a legal dispute we initiated last year against ZWSoft. During the course of this case, we were unable to provide much detail, but now that the settlement has been reached, I’d like to shed some light on how our ongoing dedication to improving AutoCAD played a role in addressing this matter. At Autodesk, we’ve consistently invested in AutoCAD, which remains the backbone of our most popular products. Our commitment ensures that AutoCAD continues to evolve, offering enhanced performance, seamless connectivity, advanced capabilities, and a superior user experience for millions of AutoCAD users globally. AutoCAD has long set the standard in terms of user interface and functionality, inspiring some competitors to imitate not just the file formats and features but even the specific commands and interaction methods. To keep pace with industry advancements, we regularly benchmark AutoCAD against other similar software. During one such assessment involving ZWCAD+, we observed a striking level of resemblance between the two products, prompting us to take appropriate action. We believe healthy competition fuels innovation and drives us to excel for our customers. However, when faced with direct copying, we stand firm in protecting our intellectual property. We’re relieved to have resolved this issue with ZWSoft through a settlement that safeguards our innovations while allowing us to continue pushing boundaries. Let me assure you that the AutoCAD team remains steadfast in delivering fresh value to our community. As we prepare for future releases, we’ll keep advancing usability standards while ensuring full compatibility with the extensive ecosystem of third-party apps and trusted DWG files. We’re actively listening to our users to simplify their access to these enhancements and exploring innovative ways to roll out new features incrementally. Additionally, our new subscription models aim to ease transitions between versions, offering smoother adoption paths for users. Our team will be present at Autodesk University (AU) in full swing, eager to connect with many of you and hear your thoughts. Whether it’s at AU or elsewhere, we remain open to feedback and committed to serving our community better than ever before. Thank you for being part of the AutoCAD journey!
