Last night, the Buffalo Grove Fire Department responded to emergency calls reporting smoke emanating from a residence close to the intersection of Evergreen Place and White Pine Road. As soon as the initial responders arrived, they noticed visible smoke, prompting an upgrade to a full-scale fire response. This triggered reinforcements from neighboring towns including Long Grove, Arlington Heights, Palatine, Prospect Heights, and Lincolnshire-Riverwoods, in addition to Buffalo Grove's own resources. Attached is an image captured by Larry Shapiro, showing smoke escaping through the roof after ventilation work was completed. The fire department managed to locate and contain the flames within a corner bedroom on the second floor of the house. Unfortunately, several birds did not survive the incident, but fortunately, a cat was discovered inside and received immediate medical assistance from Buffalo Grove’s paramedics before being taken to a veterinarian. In another photo, you can see Buffalo Grove Tower 25 arriving as one of the first units on the scene, quickly deploying two water lines. However, challenges arose when the primary hydrant proved unusable, necessitating the use of an alternative source to sustain operations. Following initial efforts to clear the smoke-filled interior, firefighters carefully checked the basement for any potential victims. The dedication and quick action of these professionals ensured that the situation was handled efficiently despite its complexity. For those interested in more visuals from the event, a small gallery featuring additional images is available HERE. These photos provide further insight into the coordinated efforts made by the Buffalo Grove Fire Department and their allies during this incident.
