Hey everyone, This message comes from Andy Hilk. He recently shared some cool updates about his involvement with the Technology Center of DuPage (TCD), where he teaches a fire science course to high school students. TCD is a Career and Technical Education (CTE) high school in DuPage County, catering to juniors and seniors. It's located in Addison, just off Swift Road, and has around 1,100 students who attend either morning or afternoon sessions. The programs offered there are diverse, including Fire Science/EMT, Criminal Justice, Auto Body, Construction, and many other fields. Last Saturday, TCD held its annual expo, and the fire science students got the chance to participate in a mock car crash scenario in the parking lot. This event was supported by the Addison Fire Protection District. A year ago, the Wood Dale Fire Protection District generously donated two vehicles to TCD—a classic 1980s-era Pierce Dash engine, believed to be an x-Engine 68 model, and a Ford/Wheeled Coach ambulance. These rigs have since been relettered to reflect TCD ownership while still acknowledging the contribution from Wood Dale. Attached are some photos taken by Andy himself during the expo. One shows students simulating a crash rescue scenario, another highlights a former Wood Dale fire engine now part of TCD’s resources, and others display the donated fire truck and ambulance being used for educational purposes. These vehicles play a crucial role in providing hands-on experience to students interested in pursuing careers in firefighting and emergency services.
